our first family home

November 8, 2017

i just added a home section to this little blog. i have a feeling we’ll be needing one for the future and it wouldn’t feel right documenting our new home plans, without giving our current & beloved family home the first post. this home gave us so much love, and we want to give it love back in return, so doing this post is very cathartic.

we brought in a professional real estate photographer to take these pictures for our listing and i’m so happy we have these to hold onto. we can show the girls these pictures when they ask about the home they first lived in. i imagine they won’t remember much about this home when they are older,  as they are still too young to hold onto such details and memories.

on the contrast, their dad and i will remember so many dear memories about this home. like the warm, honey coloured floors they took their first steps on, the marks on the door frame where we measured their height over the years, and the way we would decorate our mantle with a banner and balloons in the living room for their birthdays each year.

so many wonderful moments and celebrations happened under this roof and closing this chapter in our life won’t come easily.

I’ve been following you on Instagram for some time and finally made my way over to your blog. Thank you for sharing your lovely home! Can you tell me where you got the rug in your living room? I’ve been on the hunt for a jute/natural fiber rug that will hold up to kiddos and daily life and have yet to find one online with reviews good enough to make me bite the bullet and order!

    • kristinelee April 3, 2018 at 11:55 am

hi danna! the jute rug is from pottery barn. i’m not sure i’d give it glowing reviews as some of the knots have come undone. if you find one with great referrals please let me know!
